"The Shows on this album were recorded in the early part of June 1953 and feature Lester Flatt, Earl Scruggs, Benny Martin, Curly Sechler and Junior Husky. The Martha White Radio Show was broadcast over WSM, Nashville, Tennessee and started every morning, Monday through Friday, at 5:45 AM and lasted for fifteen minutes until 6:00 AM.
Sometimes you can hear static and the signal wanders a bit now and then. The ravages of time have added hiss and scratch to the recordings. But in spite of technical short comings these are among the most exciting bluegrass radio recordings ever made. It features the sound of Lester Flatt, Earl Scruggs and the Foggy Mountain Boys back in the days when their music was still new and exciting for them and audiences. The music of these live broadcasts has a spontaneity which is lacking even in their best early recordings."
