The original version of True appeared on Painbringer's album on Cenobite Records, The Power Within. This remastered version sounds more crisp, or maybe its just sounds better on vinyl. :D It's an OK Artcore track, there's some nice ingredients in the mix but its still lacking something, its hard to explain. In fact my favourite part of the track is the "This Is Real Hardcore" sample from Nas - Got Yourself A Gun. The Invader is a clear and noticeable jump in production from True, it's a great Gabber track! The frenetic Alpha Juno synth riffs throughout the track, the head nodding acid melody and the punchy as hell kick drum. It is glorious! Hardcore, Gabber, Hard Trance, Psy-Trance, Acid = Lost In Space. I wonder if the title is from the TV Show/Movie of the same name? Lost In Space is a beautiful combination of different types of trance and Hardcore. The main breakdowns are hair raising pianos, ambient atmospheric pads and great build ups to lovely main synth riffs. The samples in the track come from the movie, Event Horizon. The middle of the track is dominated by an excellent acid riff, reminds me of those great rave tracks from the 90's. I love this track, one of the best Hardcore tracks of this decade. True (Grimlock Remix) is not a track I would play personally, but if you want a different and slightly darker take on Gabber, it may interest you. Firstly, it doesn't really sound anything like the original track. Secondly, the main synth sounds like DJ Ruffneck from 1994, I suppose that's a compliment. The Notorious BIG sample from Running Your Mouth at the end is a nice touch. Overall, this is a fantastic record, it's so good that people like Painbringer are still willing to release Hardcore on vinyl, thank you Lammert!
